This exciting new Level 3 technical qualification, equivalent to three A Levels, will ensure you have the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to progress into skilled employment or higher-level technical study in a variety of digital and computing occupations. It provides a mixture of both core and specialist knowledge over a two-year period, and as part of the T Level programme you will carry out an extensive practical industry placement with an employer (minimum of 315 hours).

This is the perfect course If you wish to progress to a digital career with a focus on software design and development.

  • Digital analysis – understanding algorithms, abstraction, pattern recognition and decomposition

  • Diversity and inclusion – understanding and valuing differences, sensitivities and equality
  • Digital learning – covering emerging technologies, internet of things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), augmented reality (AR), computer graphics (3D)
  • Digital legislation and security – from data protection and intellectual property to security and data sharing
  • Planning and programming/software development – building project plans, integrating software development lifecycle (SDLC), critical paths, application and solution development. Students will advance their skills and understanding of the software development life cycle, network environments, game development, digital transformation and languages such as C, C++ and Python
  • Testing and tools – covering testing methods/types, industry-based digital tools and usability/user experience (UX) user interface (UI) testing

Course assessed by:

  • 50% coursework/practical and 50% Exam

 

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs grade 5 or above (including English, maths and science) and a strong interest in computing and IT
