Have you been inspired by the wonderful cakes you see online and in books to make your own but never had the confidence? Well now’s your chance!
This short evening course will teach you the basic skills and knowledge required to create fantastic-looking custom cakes for everyday celebrations.
Please see additional information for what you will need to bring to the first class. This course is for anyone interested in cake decorating. No experience is necessary. All abilities welcome.
Please note there is no funding available for this course, so all students will be required to pay the full course fee.The course fee must be paid at least 3 weeks before start date. If there are too few enrolments, the course may be cancelled.

The course introduces you to the world of sugar craft, delivered by our own in-house professional baker.
Throughout the course you will learn how to professionally cover a cake in marzipan and sugarpaste to create a smooth finish. Design shape and modelling of simple flowers and various animals. You will also learn the art of colour sugarpaste and marzipan using different modelling tools and more!
All of the learning is completed through practical sessions in the college’s new professional kitchen facility.
The classes are instructive while in a relaxed atmosphere. After a demonstration you will work on your own cake. Questions will be answered and lots of hints and tips will be given throughout the course.
There are no specific entry requirements for this course, just a love of cakes. All abilities are welcome, no prior knowledge required.
No interview is required for this course. We will email you information about how to pay and complete your enrolment when we receive your application. Your place is not secure until payment has been received.
For your first class you will need to bring the following:
8 and 6 inch round fruitcake about 3inches deep
1½ kg white sugarpaste
1½ kg marzipan
If you want to bring your own apron you can but a disposable one will be provided. Please bring a pen to make any notes. A cake board and box will be provided.
