Do you enjoy the Great British Bake-Off? Have you ever wanted to bake your own bread or impress friends & family with delicious home-made cakes and biscuits? Well now is your chance!
Our short evening courses cover a lot of different bakery skills - see 'What you will learn' for detail.
These are popular courses for all budding bakers and there's nothing like having the satisfaction of making something yourself.
All equipment and ingredients are provided. Best of all you get to take all your products home! You will be provided with a recipe book with all the recipes and information you need to create your products at home.
Baking for Beginners is for anyone interested in baking.
No experience is necessary. All abilities welcome.

What you will learn
Introduction to Baking
During this enjoyable six-week course you will learn how to make:
- Chelsea buns
- Chocolate chip cookies
- Fancy rolls
- Focaccia and pitta bread
- Fresh cream scones
- Lemon drizzle cake
- Lemon swirls
- Plaited cheese and herb bread
- Victoria sponge with fresh cream and strawberries
- Wholemeal seed loaf
All of the learning is completed through practical sessions in the college’s modern kitchen facility. The classes are instructive while in a relaxed atmosphere. After a demonstration, you will make your own product. Questions will be answered and lots of hints and tips will be given throughout the course.
This course runs on Tuesday evenings. There are no assessments or written work and a college certificate will be awarded on completion.
There are no specific entry requirements for this course, just a love of baking. Some students are already baking at home but want to improve their skills, while other students are complete beginners. All abilities are welcome.
No interview is required for this course, so please come in to see us with your method of payment and we’ll be happy to enrol you.

Everything will be provided for you but please remember to bring containers/bag to take home your bakery goods. If you want to bring your own apron you can but a disposable one will be provided.
