The Marine Skills centre is a highly regarded centre of excellence within the marine industry, with excellent success rates and well established links with local and nationally based employers.

Working from our Woolston site, your role will focus primarily on delivering cutting edge teaching to level 2 Marine engineering/Marine electrical apprentices and full time learners. You will be required to deliver both theory and practical skills in basic marine engine and propulsion systems construction and maintenance, component recognition of marine engines and propulsion systems as well as introducing learners to marine electrical requirements, standards and practical skills. The candidate should also be competent in all aspects of basic metal working and bench fitting.

This position will suit someone who has previous experience of working as a service/maintenance engineer or a mechanical/electrical fitter in the marine industry, ideally having worked on a range of mechanical and electrical equipment.

Candidates without previous teaching experience will be offered training and support to become qualified teachers and ultimately the successful candidate will be dedicated to high expectations in teaching and learning within their team, committed to securing good or outstanding outcomes for students and developing the strong relationships with key stakeholders.

You will be able to work as part of the team or individually and have good interpersonal skills.

The salary offered is up to £31,017 plus market supplement, plus pension, 39 days annual leave and statutory bank holidays. The salary is dependent on experience and negotiable for the right candidate.
