Trainee Technician - Hampshire County Council

The Intelligent Transport Systems Group (ITS) manages all aspects of traffic control and information systems throughout Hampshire, providing comprehensive, real-time travel information to transport users.

Salary

£15,669 - £16,074 per annum

Working Hours

37 hours per week

Job Purpose

To undertake a programme of training, with the possibility to obtain a nationally recognised qualification. This programme will consist of on the job training, work experience, as well as theoretical study. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to achieve accredited competence in a broad range of knowledge and skills within the chosen discipline.

During your Apprenticeship you will be provided with the opportunity to learn how to do the full Trainee Technician role through training, experience and with support. The role would be ideal for someone starting their career, beginning with an Apprenticeship Programme, at the end of which you will be able to provide technical assistance in the delivery of the Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) operations and maintenance service, including site inspections and the design of simple ITS maintenance schemes.

Skills Required

You will have 5 GCSE’s or equivalent including Maths and English, a BTEC or equivalent and proven relevant experience. With good IT skills you will also have good communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability use your initiative and work as part of a team.   

Qualifications Required

• GCSE (A to C) or equivalent including English and Maths or suitable experience and ability to perform effectively across range of responsibilities
• Full UK Driving Licence
