About the course
Have you caught the baking bug? Have you always wanted to give baking a try? Do you just what to try something new?
Our themed baking workshops take place in our modern training kitchen with a qualified baker/confectioner and cake decorator. You will use professional recipes to make products that you can replicate at home to impress your friends and family. Best of all you get to take your products home!
These Saturday workshops are for anyone interested in baking. See 'What you will learn' for information on each themed workshop.
No experience is necessary. All abilities welcome.

What you will learn
20/10/18 – Introduction to Bread
Get to grips with bread-making so you have the confidence to do it yourself at home. During the workshop you will make:
- Cheese and herb plait
- Fancy rolls
01/12/18 – Christmas Crackers
Learn how to make something a bit different for Christmas:
- German Stollen Loaf
- Zingy Crumble Mince Pies
09/02/19 – Patisserie
Learn the art of lamination and make a selection of delicious classic French bakery treats:
- Sweet and savoury croissants
- Pain au Chocolat
09/03/19 – Chocolate Easter Eggs
Learn how to model with marzipan. Use a number of different skills and tools to create some bespoke chocolate Easter eggs – great as gifts for your friends and family!
11/05/19 – Afternoon Tea
There’s nothing quite like a cream tea, so why not make your own! During this workshop you will learn how to make:
- Fresh cream strawberry scones
- Almond tarts
All of the learning is completed through practical sessions in the college’s new kitchen facility. The classes are instructive while in a relaxed atmosphere. After a demonstration you will make your own product.
There are no specific entry requirements for these baking workshops, just a love of making delicious things to eat! Some students are already baking at home but want to improve their skills, whilst others are complete beginners. All abilities are welcome.
No interview is required for this course, so please come in to see us with your method of payment and we’ll be happy to enrol you.
