About this course

Do you have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP)?

If so, our supported internship programme may be the next step for you.

The supported internship is a two-year employment programme that enables young people with an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP) to combine a work placement with learning work skills at college. 

Supported internships are unpaid, but equip you with the skills that employers need in order for you to move on to paid employment. You will gain valuable experience in the workplace, develop your strengths, improve your maths, English and overall employability.

What you will learn

This is a two-year programme during which the first year focuses on your employability skills and your independence and the second year will be focusing on your work placement. You will be supported by a job coach throughout your two years.

Learning style

From learning alongside our dedicated teachers and Supported Internship Job Coach you will gain employability and interview skills. These will be taught practically, including mock interviews.

Your work placement in the second year will enable to you put everything you have learned into practice while being supported by both the company you are working with and your job coach.

 

Entry requirements

Anyone aged 16–24 with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) who wants to build confidence in entering a workplace can do a supported internship.

The main requirement is that you want to work and that your long term goal is to enter paid employment.
