About the course
This course is ideal if you are a qualified counsellor or are training at level 4 and would like to include couple work within your counselling practice. It will give you the knowledge required for professional development in person-centred couples counselling.
What you will learn
This course doesn’t focus on teaching the theory; instead you will take part in a number of different scenarios. You will have the opportunity to practice the art of person-centred couples counselling and use your existing theoretical knowledge and experience with individual clients to inform and develop skills and awareness of person-centred couples work.
You will cover:
- Couple diversity
The learning style of this course is largely student-centred and relies on you having the motivation and maturity to complete tasks independently as well as ensuring that confidential matters stay within the classroom.
There is no formal assessment on this course, its aim is to offer you the opportunity for development and awareness of person-centred couples counselling. On completion you will not be a 'qualified' couples counsellor, but will have more confidence, knowledge and experience in this area.
You must be either training at Diploma/BA level or qualified in person-centred/humanistic counselling to enrol on this course. If you are not a student/graduate of City College Southampton please bring proof of your student/qualified status to the first session.
You will be required to attend an interview at the College prior to enrolling onto the course.
