About this apprenticeship

This apprenticeship is suitable for you if you want to start a career or develop your existing skills in working in IT and Telecoms. IT professionals serve customers in all types of business – they could be developing software or websites, helping companies set up new systems, or training people to use their IT facilities.

What you will learn

As an intermediate level apprentice you could work as a support technician setting up new equipment or upgrading existing systems, or as a helpdesk professional working with customers to identify, troubleshoot and escalate IT faults.

Learning style

An apprentice can expect to be doing work based learning with an employer and to be paid a wage. The apprenticeship will include a diploma, functional skills and knowledgebased element or technical certificate.

Entry requirements

No previous qualifications are required and a full assessment will take place to ensure you have the skills to complete the qualification. Those wishing to progress onto an advanced apprenticeship will require GCSEs A*-C/9-4 in English and maths (or equivalent) or demonstrate, through the assessment process, that you are able to achieve this.

Note - You will be required to attend an interview at the College prior to enrolling onto an apprenticeship.

Additional information

You will attend college one day a week to ensure you get the support you need to succeed. The rest of the training will take place in the workplace with in-house training by the employer and an assessor who will visit you on site.

Employer Information

Evidence of knowledge and competency can be obtained through: observations in theworkplace, physical products of work, reports, plans, online assessments, correspondence, witness testimony, discussion and questioning.

Apprentices will also be assigned an Assessor, who will visit them every 12 weeks to ensure they are happy with their progress and on track to achieve.
