About this course

The Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) Level 3 Diploma is an ideal starting point if you have management responsibilities but no formal training and wish to develop your skills. It’s particularly suited to practising team leaders seeking to move up to the next level of management, and managers who need to lead people through organisational change, budget cuts or other pressures.

Over this year-long course, you will learn effective and confident leadership skills and how to build an efficient team using motivation, communication and feedback.

With its workplace-based assessment, you can see the measurable results of how the new skills are working for both yourself and your organisation.

What you will learn

The Diploma in Leadership and Management has 13 units and takes 1 year to complete.

  • Understanding how to Motivate and Improving Performance
  • Training & Coaching in the Workplace

  • Understanding Health & Safety in the Workplace
  • Developing own Leadership capability (using action learning)
  • Meeting Customers’ Needs
  • Business Improvements Techniques
  • Managing Equality & Diversity in your own area
  • Developing People in the Workplace

Please note this course is taught online.

Assessment

You will complete 13 units, each will have a written assignment.

Entry requirements
  • You need to be employed in a team leader role or have responsibility for leading others or be employed with previous experience of leading a team
  • GCSE English grade A*-C/9-4 or level 2 equivalent
  • Be aged 19 years or over 
  • You will be required to attend a College interview prior to enrolling onto the course
  • This course may be fully funded depending on the previous levels of qualifications achieved
