About this course

This level 3 professional ILM qualification is a part-time 8-week leadership and management course designed for supervisors and first line managers to develop their leadership, communication and management skills. You must be employed with responsibility for leading others to apply for this course.

It provides junior managers with the communication and motivational skills and knowledge to help improve, manage and train their team. It takes on a highly flexible learning approach.

What you will learn

The Certificate in Leadership and Management has 7 units and takes 8 weeks to complete.

Units include: 

  • Understanding leadership
  • Planning and allocating work
  • Understanding the communication process in the workplace
  • Understanding how to motivate to improve performance
  • Understanding performance management
  • Understanding training and coaching in the workplace
  • Understanding innovation and change in an organisation 

You will complete 7 units, each will have a written assignment.

Entry requirements
  • You need to be employed in a team leader role or have responsibility for leading others or be employed with previous experience of leading a team
  • GCSE English grade A*-C/9-4 or level 2 equivalent
  • Be aged 19 years or over 
  • You will be required to attend a College interview prior to enrolling onto the course
