About this apprenticeship
A Business Administration apprenticeship is an excellent route to gain the experience of working for an employer whilst learning the knowledge of the role. Gaining these skills could lead you to team leading and management positions.
This apprenticeship is suitable for you if you want to start a career or develop your existing skills in working in Business and Administration. Business administration is an important support role within any business or organisation and, with more experience, is an excellent starting point to progress onto team leading and management roles.

What you will learn
Administrators handle the day-to-day tasks in an office and make sure things run smoothly. This sort of work requires a strong sense of responsibility, accuracy and attention to detail.
As a business and administration apprentice, your exact duties will depend on your employer but could include:
- Typing up board meeting documents
- Putting financial information together in spreadsheets
- Sending the daily post
- Faxing and photocopying confidential documents
An apprentice can expect to be doing work based learning with an employer and to be paid a wage. The apprenticeship will include a diploma, which includes the knowledge based element, functional skills and employment rights and responsibilities workbook.
No previous qualifications are required and a full assessment will take place to ensure you have the skills to complete the qualification. Those wishing to progress onto an advanced apprenticeship will require GCSEs A*-C/9-4 in English and maths (or equivalent) or demonstrate, through the assessment process, that you are able to achieve this.

Course length & fees

Administrators at this level undertake a range of routine tasks in different work contexts. They have some autonomy but are usually supervised. Job roles could include:
- Administration Assistant
- Clerical Assistant
- Junior Secretary
- Office Clerk
You will attend college one day a week to ensure you get the support you need to succeed. The rest of the training will take place in the workplace with in-house training by the employer and an assessor who will visit you on site.
Evidence of knowledge and competency can be obtained through: observations in the workplace, physical products of work, reports, plans, online assessments, correspondence, witness testimony, discussion and questioning.
Apprentices will also be assigned an Assessor, who will visit them every 12 weeks to ensure they are happy with their progress and on track to achieve.
