About the course
This Business Administration advanced apprenticeship is suitable for you if you want to start a career or develop your existing skills in working in Business and Administration. The advanced apprenticeship will give you the opportunity to learn advanced business skills such as planning and organising events, designing and producing business literature and other tasks with greater responsibility.
Business administration is an important support role within any business or organisation and, with more experience, is an excellent starting point to progress onto team leading and management roles.

What you will learn
Administrators handle the day-to-day tasks in an office and make sure things run smoothly. This sort of work requires a strong sense of responsibility, accuracy and attention to detail.
As a business and administration advanced apprentice, your exact duties will depend on your employer but could include how to:
- Manage personal performance and development
- Communicate in a business environment
- Design and produce business documents
- Plan and organise meetings
An apprentice can expect to be doing work based learning with an employer and to be paid a wage. The apprenticeship will include a diploma, which includes the knowledge based element, functional skills and employment rights and responsibilities workbook.
Your Apprenticeship Coordinator will complete a workplace audit with you. This will enable them to establish whether you are covering the right level of tasks in the workplace required to meet the criteria required to complete this apprenticeship.
A full assessment will take place to ensure you have the skills to complete the qualification.
As this is an advanced apprenticeship, all applicants will require:
- GCSEs at grade A*-C/9-4 in English and maths (or equivalent) OR
- Can demonstrate through an assessment that they will be able to achieve this level of English and maths
You will be required to attend an interview at the College prior to enrolling onto an apprenticeship.

Administrators at this level undertake a wide range of complex tasks in a variety of work contexts. They have a high degree of autonomy and responsibility and may provide some supervisory support. Job roles could include:
- Administration Clerk
- Administration Officer
- Administration Team Leader
- Office Supervisor
- Personal Assistant (PA)
You will attend college one day a week to ensure you get the support you need to succeed. The rest of the training will take place in the workplace with in-house training by the employer and an assessor who will visit you on site.
Evidence of knowledge and competency can be obtained through: observations in the workplace, physical products of work, reports, plans, online assessments, correspondence, witness testimony, discussion and questioning.
Apprentices will also be assigned an Assessor, who will visit them every 12 weeks to ensure they are happy with their progress and on track to achieve.
