This part-time welding course focuses on MIG welding and is ideal if you are already working in welding and are looking to develop your skills further to increase responsibilities and knowledge.

The course will cover the following aspects of MIG welding:

  • Health and Safety requirements relevant to welding
  • Producing a butt weld in the PA flat position and vertical position
  • Producing a lap fillet in the vertical position
  • Producing a tee fillet weld in the vertical position
  • Producing a tube-to-plate tee fillet weld in the PB horizontal and vertical position
  • Factors that influence weld quality

The course is accredited, on completion of all five assignments plus one oral/written knowledge test, you will be awarded a City and Guilds Level 2 certificate

Students are required to have 20 hours of previous welding experience before joining this course. This can have been acquired in the workplace, or by attending one of our 10-week introductory courses.

Applicants will be invited to undertake a test weld at the college before they can join this course.

We will email you information about how to pay and complete your enrolment once the teacher has offered you a place on the course. Your place is not secure until payment has been received.

You will need to bring your own personal safety wear this must include certified flame-resistant overalls (not nylon) and wear safety boots.
