About the course

Do you like working with numbers and are eager to learn more about the world of finance? Training for a career in accounting will provide you with the required and recognised skills that are transferable across any business type or industry.

This apprenticeship is suitable for you if you want to start a career or develop your existing skills in working in Accountancy.

When can I start?

Our Accountancy apprenticeships usually start in September, but you can apply at any time.

What does it cost?

Nothing! If you are eligible then your qualification is funded by your employer and the Government.

What you will learn
  • Running a business involves a lot of financial activities, from expenses and bills to taxes and payroll. Accounting is a highly skilled profession, with accounting staff working at many different levels.

As an accountancy advanced apprentice you will learn a variety of skills. These may include how to:

  • Record receipts and payments
  • Prepare and check ledger balances and other monthly accounts
  • Receiving and process invoices, expense forms and requests for payment
  • Process sales orders
Learning style

An apprentice can expect to be doing work based learning with an employer and to be paid a wage. The apprenticeship will include a diploma, functional skills and knowledge based element or technical certificate.

Entry requirements

A full assessment will take place to ensure you have the skills to complete the qualification. As this is an advanced apprenticeship, all applicants will require GCSEs at grade A*-C/9-4 in English and maths (or equivalent), or can demonstrate through the assessment process that they will be able to achieve this. By completing a workplace audit the Apprenticeship Coordinator will be able to establish whether you are covering the right level of tasks in the workplace to support the criteria necessary for the on-site evidence.

You will be required to attend an interview at the College prior to starting an apprenticeship.
