Marine Engineering Vacancy-Bursledon Outboards sales & services

Wage:

The starting apprenticeship wage would be £4.35 per hour, above the national minimum for an apprentice, with paid holidays, and paid whilst attending college and factory courses.

Vacancy Description

The ideal candidate would have a keen desire for a mechanical career in the marine industry. We are located in Bursledon directly on the Hamble river.

They would hopefully already have a basic knowledge of engines perhaps gained from tinkering in the garage with motorbikes or engines. This is not imperative, just having a strong interest in mechanics would be good.

As an apprentice they would be expected to attend a Marine training course weekly at college and attend normal working hours at the workshop when not at college. In addition they would be sent on factory training courses and complete online Mercury University training courses, all offered free.

Their role initially would be to assist with all duties in the workshop from tidying up the workshop, assisting senior technicians and learning to strip down and repair small engines. We often work Saturday mornings during the spring to autumn seasons and they would be expected to show willing at least two weekends a month.

Skills Required

Only candidates with a good strong work ethic and a desire to learn the industry will be considered for the role. We are a small family run business currently with four technicians and one office manager. The director and senior technician has been in the industry for over 30 years, and we have been located on the river for over 20 years, with a solid reputation within our customer base.
