Apprentice Mechanical Engineer-SWL Lifting & Testing Ltd

Wage

£200 per Week. Working hours are Monday – Friday 7.30am to 4.30pm.

Vacancy Description

You will be working with a very friendly and experienced team.  As a Lifting Equipment Engineer you will become competent and capable to carry out inspection, testing, adjustment and maintenance of mechanical and electrical aspects of lifting and handling equipment ranging from simple machines like a chain block to 100t overhead travelling cranes. You will compile reports and present and discuss with the customer your findings and be aware of and able to discuss with the customer all aspects/product groups of the industry.

No day is the same, most of our works are conducted on customers premises both on land and at sea, a trip abroad is also fairly common.  This is an industry where there is a current shortage of skills which is leading to ever increasing wages.

You will have an excellent team around you and once your knowledge and skills develop you will be actively encouraged to practise them further.

You will be required to attend City College Southampton one day a week where you will enhance your techniques under the watchful eyes of very knowledgeable and experienced tutors.

Roles and Responsibilies

You will be expected to attend City College Southampton on a day release basis. You will receive regular visits from a very experienced assessor who will assist with your development towards completing your Level 3.

Qualifications

A* to C in English and Maths.
