Wage

£4.30 per hour
(Government National Minimum Wage, aged 16-18 and ages 19 or over and in your first year).


37 Hours Per Week with 7.5 hours for study
(days/times negotiable, may require some evening/ weekend working).

Vacancy Description

This role has been created to provide an opportunity for a young person to develop their knowledge, skills and expertise in a mental health charity. This apprenticeship is ideal for any young person aged 16 years and above, wishing to embark in a career within health and social care who has experience using social media and digital platforms and is interested in a vocation working with young people and families.

Peer Support is recognised as a key component of modern mental health and wellbeing provision. Through sharing wisdom from their own experiences, peer support staff and volunteers will inspire hope and belief that recovery is possible in others.  In this role, you will be improving understanding of mental health in children, young people, families and school staff by supporting the development of online opportunities such as web chats, which will offer advice and support alongside opportunities for people to share their own experiences and coping strategies in a safe, peer-led way. You will support the team in using a range of digital platforms to create skill based groups, share their stories and engage young people and families to take part in joint discussions and learning.  You will coordinate forums for young people and families, giving an opportunity for service users to influence local provision and play a key role in reflection and co-production of digital support.

You will directly impact digital developments by supporting the team with further opportunities, including the development of youth and family shared learning and networking events for professionals involved in supporting young people, and taster workshops and assemblies.

Duties: 

  • To collaborate with Solent Minds’ Heads Up project and Upturn project leads to implement digital wellbeing.
  • Co-create and co-design bespoke digital support for young people and families using various digital platforms.
  • To coordinate forums to collect young people and families’ feedback.
  • Support in the development of innovative ways to engage young people and families via various digital platforms.
  • Support the Peer Support Project Worker Youth Affinity and wider Peer Support team with the continued development of our services and provisions.
  • Support in reviewing and recommending digital engagement options.
  • Awareness of social media trends and youth engagement with social media.
  • To support with the coordinating web chat functions.
  • Influence website re-design.
  • Co-design digital evaluation tools.
  • Upload records and complete administrative tasks as required.
  • Manage the CYP shared email box.
  • To take minutes and update project plans, databases and other records when required.
  • To attend meeting when required. 

General

  • To uphold the aim and values of Solent Mind.
  • To contribute to the ongoing development of the service and to best practice.
  • Work within Solent Mind policies and procedures and complete all necessary training.
  • To maintain up to date knowledge of legislation, national and local polices and issues in relation to both the specific client group and mental health.

Skills Required

  • Experience in using IT, including Microsoft Office and social media platforms.
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to manage own workload.
  • Experience
  • Have lived experience of mental health problems and using mental health services
  • Experience of working with young people, in a paid or voluntary capacity
  • An understanding of the challenges and barriers that young people and families may face, particularly in relation to mental health and wellbeing.
  • An understanding of the role and value of peer support within mental health.
  • Experience of developing activities, including planning and promotion.
  • Experience of supporting and educating people about mental health and wellbeing, including practical wellbeing skills.
  • Experience of creating and delivering content using various digital platforms (including social media).
  • Experience of engaging hard to reach audiences.

Qualifications

A-C / 4-9 in English and Maths GCSE is the Entry Requirments for this course. We will ask for evidence of this when applying. If you cannot provide evience, we unfortunatly cannot progress with your application.
