An exciting opportunity to join the undergraduate administration team supporting the student lifecycle at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Southampton. As an apprentice you will learn how to provide administrative support for a range of duties for the efficient delivery of the student lifecycle, from induction, to placements, assessment and graduation, to include answering telephone and email queries. This engaging and varied role offers the potential for career development within the organisation and opportunities to experience a wide range of higher education administration. You will be part of a professional and friendly team, working also with academic staff, GP practices and NHS Hospital Trusts.

Job roles & responsibilities

The student lifecycle apprentice position will cover, but not limited to:

  • Distribution of documentation
  • Follow up and resolve enquiry issues
  • Liaise with Academic Leads- advising of issues etc
  • Travel Claims - processing of claims, dealing with student enquiries
  • Processing assessment forms for providing information to exam boards
  • Processing student DBS forms at induction
  • Filing paperwork
  • Helping with enquiries at the student office reception desk
  • To work in collaboration with SAA workstream partners to build up a good working knowledge of systems, policies and processes
  • To be flexible and adaptable in the approach to work routines, undertaking other tasks, roles and duties within the SAA workstream as may be assigned
  • To act as a filter for enquiries/issues/problems, escalating those that cannot be resolved to the senior manager when appropriate
  • The apprentice role will also work with members of teams across the Faculty to gain an understanding of the whole student life cycle
