About the CourseIf you are looking to improve your English skills and self confidence by getting a nationally recognised qualification at level 2 then this is the course for you. You may already have the skills but want to prove what you can do, or you might want to move on to further study or improve your skills to help you in your work. This qualification will help you to achieve your goals. You can enrol anytime throughout the year with classes taking place morning, afternoon and some evenings. Course ContentWe offer these qualifications at level 1 and level 2, teaching English skills from the basics to more advanced skills. Our classes offer individual programmes for each learner where you can work on the skills that you need to develop. Your tutor will support you with the preparation for taking the Functional Skills accreditation at level 2. Success Story'You need English skills throughout your life whatever you do and wherever you go. Attending Skills for Life English classes and gaining a qualification has enabled me to get a job as a Police Community Support Officer (PCSO). Without it I would never have passed the entrance exams.' Entry RequirementsYou will need to attend an interview with a member of the English team. An initial assessment will tell you what skills you have already. A diagnostic assessment will show you which skills you need to work on. Learning StyleStudents work on individual learning programmes within small adult groups. Equipment RequirementsAll you will need is a folder, some paper and a pen or pencil. AssessmentYou will take a Functional Skills English qualification at level 2 which includes Speaking & Listening, Reading and Writing assessments. ProgressionOnce you have achieved your level 2 qualification, you can progress to do the GCSE English or to a new area of learning. You could use your qualification to help you with job hunting or to get onto that course you have always wanted to do.
