In the UK, over 120,000 people are employed in the tourism sector and this figure is growing year on year. With the growth in low-fare airlines and particularly in Southampton the cruise industry, the local jobs available are only set to increase.

There are some really good career prospects both at home and abroad, as well as opportunities with airlines and cruise liners. Perhaps you have always dreamt of working as cabin crew, or a travel agent or even a holiday rep in the Caribbean. Did you know that there are over 850 tourist information offices in the UK employing over 3,500 people if you’re particularly interested in your local area?
In order to get far in this industry you will need a recognised qualification and it’s important to have the right attitude. Determination is also required as the industry can be very competitive.

Travel agent, holiday rep, passenger/airport staff, cabin crew, cruise line bookings operative, tourist information assistant, events manager.
Specialist Facilities
You will use specialist resources at college to help with your training, including accessing Galileo (travel booking system) plus numerous online and physical resources in the learning resources centre.
How Will I Be Assessed?
You will complete coursework, external assignments and online tests.
Course information for parents
Level 3 (A level equivalent)
We have a range of level 3 programmes which are equivalent to 3 A levels (360 UCAS points). These information sheets are user friendly for parents. It gives you the main detail of the equivalence of the qualification along with an outline of course content, learning strategies, progression routes and a case study of a previous learner.
