Courses for 16-18 year olds
City College offers a wide range of courses for 16-18 year olds. On the left, the subject area links will take you to an overview of that vocational area and from there you can look at all the different levels and courses currently on offer. You can also apply at a click of a button!
GCSE English and Maths
Do you still need at least a grade C or above in English or maths to meet your goal? Don't worry, City College has clear learning pathways to help you achieve this at the same time as you study your full time course here.
From September 2013, if you have at least five grade A-Ds in GCSE (including English and maths) then you will have the opportunity to re-sit your chosen GCSE in your first year with us.
If you have less than five GCSEs at grade A-D then you will undertake functional skills at either level 1 or level 2, depending on your need. Once you have completed and passed functional skills at level 2 you will have the opportunity (subject to interview) to go on and re-sit your GCSE.
These re-sits in GCSEs and functional skills provision will run alongside your main vocational course and fit into your timetable to best suit you and ensure the maximum success for your learning outcomes.
A Levels
We also specialise in advanced level 3 courses with the option to do an AS level alongside some of our level 3 vocational courses. For more information, check out our Vocational Plus programme. Or if you're particularly interested in science A levels, check out our specialist STEM programme.
City College has the top success rates for 16-18 year olds in Southampton at advanced level and each year many of our students successfully progress to their chosen university.
