Beauty Therapy
Do you have a talent for making people look good and feel great, giving them confidence? Do you have a keen interest in beauty treatments or make-up trends? Does the idea of improving your communication skills by meeting new people through working on clients excite you? If the answers are yes, then a career in beauty therapy, nail service or media make-up could be your future.
There are some excellent career opportunities with beauty therapy; you could work as a nail technician or beauty therapist in a salon, on a cruise liner or even for an airline. You might want to specialise in a certain area such as skincare, and work for names such as Clinique or Clarins. We offer courses from level 1 to level 4 in beauty including subjects like manicure, pedicure, massage, make-up, waxing, electrical epilation, media make-up, nail technology, nail art and also working skills such as customer service and healthcare. There are some fantastic career prospects in this dynamic, fast moving industry for people with both personality and creative flair. To help you decide we offer trips, work experience and you take part in our outstanding industry week. We offer other courses alongside your beauty or nail courses to give you the skills you need to achieve your dream.
Example careers
You could work in a beauty salon, in a spa/health club, for a cruise liner, as a fashion make-up artist or theatrical make-up artist, as a beauty therapist, as a nail technician or work freelance.
Specialist facilities
You will work in the college's commercial salon 'Kudos', which provides students with an outstanding learning and real working environment with modern equipment. The Kudos Hair and Beauty salons are open to members of the public during the week (including some Saturdays). Working with real, paying clients, gives you the opportunity to enhance your customer service skills and improve your range of beauty treatment skills.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed through a combination of written assignments, practical assessments and written exams. You will be required to create a portfolio of evidence during your course.
