Apprenticeship fever hits City College
City College Southampton is celebrating National Apprenticeship Week between February 6 and 10.
A number of activities will take place across the college to promote apprenticeships, the first of which being an apprenticeship fair on Monday (February 6). The fair will take place in the mall between 12 and 2pm and visiting students will be able to speak to the student services team about the ben

Scottish and Southern Energy apprentices to be trained at City College
CITY College Southampton has been appointed to provide training and assessment for Scottish and Southern Energy's electrical apprentices.
It is one of only three colleges in the UK to be chosen for the task, which will involve training the company's electrical apprentices within the college's facilities and carrying out on-site assessments with the apprentices.

City College raises money for Naomi House and Jacksplace
CITY College has adopted Naomi House and jacksplace as its official charity for 2012 and will be organising events throughout the year to raise money in support.
To kick-off this year's fundraising activity, City College's hair and beauty department, which includes barbering students, has organised three cut and blow dry evenings on 25 January, 28 March and 30 May.

City College Southampton has proved that it is top of the pops when it comes to developing its staff.
It has just been awarded bronze recognition from Investors in People, which awards companies and organisations that show commitment to training and developing employees, as well as the core business.

City College awards Star Chef with their first honorary diploma
Master chef and restauranteur, Paul Ainsworth, has been awarded the first ever honorary diploma by his former college.
Paul, who owns and runs 'At Number 6' and 'Rojano's in the Square' in Padstow, was presented with the accolade by Anthony Pitcher OBE, Chairman of the Board of City College Southampton, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the catering and hospitality industry.

As part of City College's commitment to promoting good health it is holding a sexual health awareness day on December 1.
A series of events will be taking place on the day, with Catch 22, No Limits and the NHS attending.

Generous students and staff at City College Southampton
Generous students and staff at City College Southampton have raised their record amount yet for Children in Need.
Creating personalised baubles, giving back massages, waxing, head shaving; organising a sponsored silence (amazingly 5.5 hours!) and a car wash were just a few of the ways in which students supported the fundraiser. In total City College raised £1200.

Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer, Ed Balls MP, and John Denham, MP for Southampton Itchen, dropped by yesterday to visit college students. The pair spoke to City College's business and economics students about the importance of apprenticeships, the state of the economy and what could be done to reduce unemployment levels.

Star studded celebration at City College Southampton
