Outstanding Student Success Rates
Over the last few year student success rates at City College have been consistently improving at a rate well above national averages. Long course success rates for our under 19 learners now stands at 77% (2007/08) up from 59% in (2005/06). Level 1 and level 2 success rates are particularly good. 84% of our level 1 students who start a course are successful with many occupational areas having success rates above 90%. 72% of our level 2 students who start a course with us are successful (latest figures) this is up from 52% in 2005/06.
The Learning and Skills Council have developed a model called Framework for Excellence which is designed to assess the performance of Colleges on a number of measures. For student success on courses at College as well as for apprenticeship framework achievements City College with City Training has been assessed as outstanding in 2007/08.
The College had a recent annual monitoring visit from Ofsted. During this visit ofsted confirmed that over the last two years the College has made “significant progress in improving student success rates”. Ofsted also said “the College continues to focus well on ensuring that students are placed on the right course and supported appropriately” and “work-based learning apprenticeship framework completions have shown considerable improvements from 48% in 2005/06 to 78% in 2006/07”.
