City College are delighted with their new 'State of the Art' facilities known as 'the hub' and based at the heart of the city centre. These fantastic facilities form part of the college's £34 million third phase development of the site for learners of all ages, the local community and local businesses.

 

The comprehensive new development known as 'the hub' includes:

  • 240 seat professional theatre incorporating the latest professional equipment
  • Aspire - a fully functional commercial restaurant
  • Kudos - a professional hair and beauty salon
  • Media studios with around £1million worth of industry standard equipment
  • A TV studio that can be used to film in full HD
  • A central cafe, run by the College's hospitality students
  • Numerous seminar rooms and break out areas

Restaurant Aspire is run by our catering & hospitality students, and offers a superb selection of cuisine. You can dine in pleasant surroundings with great food, excellent service and with a fine selection of wines. Lunchtime and evening meals are offered throughout the year:

Our students, many of them working in commercial salons already, can offer you great hairstyles and beauty treatments at much less than high street prices. They work in our training salons under expert supervision.

Kudos Hair & Beauty Salon are now pleased to offer the full range of Dermalogica beauty products in the salon. These renowned specialist skincare products and treatments are now be available in Kudos Hair & Beauty Salon at prices much lower than you would find on the high street. The hub : Film, TV and Radio Studios

Southampton City College are proud to announce the completion of the brand new full HD television studio, equipped with the latest Panasonic P2 cameras, Kino Flo lighting and green screen.

The editing facilities are second to none using Final Cut pro on the new 27 inch Apple iMac's. This combined with the Colleges very own radio station equipped with Soniflex desk and Miriad software make the media centre one of the best on the South Coast.

As well as offering superb first class facilities for students studying Media and Journalism the studios are also available for commercial hire to local businesses and organisations at extremely competitive rates.

This 'State of the Art' theatre allows City College to provide students with the very best training facilities in performing arts and technical theatre in the region.

The college hopes to use the improved facility to nurture the city's artistic talents and plans are already in the pipeline to provide workshops and summer schools to under 16s.

It will further enhance learning for students on the college's Technical Theatre and Event Management, Musical Theatre, and Performing Arts courses. It will also allow the college to provide bespoke technical theatre training to its staff and those already working in the theatre industry.

The 240 capacity theatre has been fitted out with £1m worth of top-of-the range equipment. The new features, along with a contemporary styled foyer, bar and adjoining restaurant, are expected to make the theatre a popular choice for commercial hire and will play an important part in hosting a whole range of community performances, touring productions, comedy evenings as well as business events.
