About the course:

The HND diploma at level 5 is a follow on qualification from the HNC Diploma at level 4. It is what is called a nested qualification in that credits obtained at level 4 are also used to achieve the level 5 qualification. The HNC requires 120 credits while the HND requires a further 120 credits, 240 credits in total.

The HND Diploma builds on the more technical, academic HNC programme. The HND is more about the application of principles evidenced through more worked related units.

Success Story:

Students who may have completed the older version of the HNC programme can access this programme to achieve a level 5 HND.

Course Content:

Electrical principles, Research Project, Personal and Pofessional Development and Quality Assurance and Management all at level 5

Entry Requirements/Qualifications:

A HNC qulaification achieved under the NCF banner, 10 units or a HNC Diploma 120 credit qulaification achieved under new QCF banner.

Learning Style:

The first tern will be delivered in college on a day release basis for specific taught units such as Eectrical Principles, however the 2nd and 3rd term will allow students to complete units in the workplace but with regular contact and vists form tutors in the workplace.

Equipment Requirements:

Access to a computer and the Internet is highly desirable to gain maximum use of the virtual learning environment provided by the college.

Assessment:

Tutor designed assignmnets, presentations and reports.

Progression:

Following successful completion of the course, students can look to gain access to the 2nd year of a suitable degree programme.
