About the course:
The Level 3 Beauty Therapy programme is a one year course. As part of your programme you will be required to completed essential homework for assignments, as well as practicing your vocational skills in your own time. The Level 3 beauty therapy programme covers a large amount of Anatomy & Physiology to develop and provide a greater in-depth understanding of the human body and it systems; this will be a core subject whilst learning the beauty therapy skills.
Course Content:
Core units: compulsory
- G22: Monitor procedures to safely control work operations
- H32: Contribute to the planning and implementation of promotional activities
Mandatory Units: you need these units for a full L3 qualification
- B20 Provide body massage treatments
- B23 Provide Indian Head massage
- B24 Carry out massage using pre-blended aromatherapy oils
- B28 Provide stone therapy treatment
Course chosen options: The specialist tutors have chosen these units to stream into your timetable
- G23: Check the likely success of a business idea
- G25: Undertake freelance work
Entry Requirements/Qualifications:
3 GCSE A-C including English, Maths and Science. Or, candidates who have successfully completed a Level 2 General beauty therapy course with a satisfactory reference and skills assessment. You need to have a passion and a creative flare for colour shapes and fashion.
Learning Style:
A mixture of practical, written assignments and modular test observed and study methods. Students will need to submit portfolio demonstrating practical evidence and essential knowledge via assignments and tests.
Equipment Requirements:
You will be required to wear beauty salon wear, which consists of a La Beeby Black tunic and trousers and black salon shoes. Order forms are given to you via the beauty staff. You will also be required to purchase beauty therapy kit, and subject text book for recommend reading.
You will be given an order form at your welcome induction by the beauty team. However the Information & Advice Team will also have copies of these forms it is compulsory that you and order before the start of the course.
You will be expected to provide models for your practical assessments that will be expected to contribute to the cost of consumables
Assessment:
Assessments are on a continuous programme of study. To re enforce underpinning knowledge students are encouraged to participate in student led activities within the class, complete work packs and case studies to produce a portfolio of evidence compiled by the student. All methods are selected to meet the levels and ability of each individual student.
You are required to research information for your assignments in your own time, and practise your practice skills at home. (Approximately 12-15hours of study per week plus practical).
You will be expected to provide models for your practical assessments that will be expected to contribute to the cost of consumables; however you will also be expected to work on external client to develop a real working experience.
Progression:
You may want to progress by adding to your industry skills by attending part-time courses in stone therapy, reflexology or progress onto the level 4 higher professional diploma in technical salon management. Or you may choose to work in beauty salons, cruise ships, health clubs, spas or begin your own business venture.
Additional Information:
The beauty industry is a professional career; therefore we have certain rules and regulations within the Beauty salons that you must adhere to. You will not be accepted in the beauty salon without the following
- Full beauty kit
- A clean and well pressed uniform
- Clean shoes from La Beeby
- Day make up
- Clean tidy hairstyle hair should be tied back
- No jewellery except a wedding band
- Short nails which are unvarnished
- No nail extensions
- Facial piercings are to be removed
Enrolment Instructions:
An interview will be essential before enrolment onto this course. Late enrolments will not be accepted later than 3 weeks of the start date.
