About the course:
A one and a half day practical course on structural repairs to cored laminates with damage to one skin only and the core. The course will include practical repair to a sandwich panel where the outside laminate and the core are damaged and need to be repaired. NB: Vacuum-bagging techniques will be used to bond replacement materials.
Course Content:
- Damage assessment
- Removal of damage with routers and cutters
- Grinding tapers and scarph angles
- Damaged core removal
- Potting in replacement core (bagged)
- Replacing damaged laminate to the original specification (bagged)
- Fairing back and replacing gel coat
- Cosmetic surface finishing techniques
Entry Requirements/Qualifications:
This course is suitable for students who wish to increase their competence for the repair of more complex composite structures.
