About the course:
This is a two-day practical course on the structural repair of single skin GRP laminates. This course will cover practical repairs techniques to hole damage were access is from only the outside surface e.g. a watertight compartment such as a buoyancy tank etc.
Course Content:
- Damage assessment
- Removal of damage with routers and cutters
- Grinding tapers and scarph angles
- Surface preparation
- Back up plate manufacture
- Back up plate removal preparation and dry fitting
- Back up plate bonding and fixing
- Laminate replacement
- Gel coat replacement
- Cosmetic surface finishing techniques
Entry Requirements/Qualifications:
This course is ideally suited for students who have a good understanding and experience of GRP lay-up techniques who wish to progress to be proficient in more complex structural repairs to single skin GRP laminates to the standards required of Lloyd’s Register.
