Entry RequirementsThis course is designed for over 19’s. Ideally all applications require a good standard of education in English, Maths and Science GCSE's A-D or the equivalent, and candidates who have successfully completed a Level 1 Beauty course with a satisfactory reference and skills assessment.
Learner from the EU or who have been previous ESOL students will require a good standard of spoken English (Level 1 or above) so they can hold a conversation with our wide client base.
It should be noted that a good standard of physical health is required as beauty is often physically demanding, and this type of work may affect certain skin conditions.
A short interview is required by every learners before starting this course and enrolment will be dependent on a successful outcome. About the CourseThe Level 3 Beauty Therapy programme is a one year course. As part of your programme you will be required to completed essential homework for assignments, as well as practicing your vocational skills in your own time. The Level 3 beauty therapy programme covers a large amount of Anatomy & Physiology to develop and provide a greater in-depth understanding of the human body and it systems; this will be a core subject whilst learning the beauty therapy skills. Entry Requirements3 GCSE A-C including English, Maths and Science. Or, candidates who have successfully completed a Level 2 General beauty therapy course with a satisfactory reference and skills assessment. You need to have a passion and a creative flare for colour shapes and fashion. Learning StyleA mixture of practical, written assignments and modular test observed and study methods. Students will need to submit portfolio demonstrating practical evidence and essential knowledge via assignments and tests. Equipment RequirementsYou will be required to wear beauty salon wear, which consists of a La Beeby Black tunic and trousers and black salon shoes. Order forms are given to you via the beauty staff. You will also be required to purchase beauty therapy kit, and subject text book for recommend reading.
You will be given an order form at your welcome induction by the beauty team. However the Information & Advice Team will also have copies of these forms it is compulsory that you and order before the start of the course.

To re enforce underpinning knowledge students are encouraged to participate in student led activities within the class, complete work packs and case studies to produce a portfolio of evidence compiled by the student. About the CourseLevel 3 Diploma in Hair and Media Make –up is a one year course. This is an opportunity to learn the skills that will lead you to a career in the exciting world of theatre and film as a make-up artist. When applied effectively, make-up becomes one of the key factors in conveying a sense of drama, whether in film, theatre, photograph or music video. Working hands-on, you will develop the skills to create different looks including fashion, stage and character make-up. If you have a keen interest in the stage and entertainment industry and are committed, enthusiastic and motivated, or you have just successfully completed Level 2 Hair and Media Make-up, level 2 Beauty Therapy or Level 2 Hairdressing this course is for you. This course is a demanding course, which is delivered to a strict time-scale. You will need to be a highly motivated individual who can work independently, maximising resources whilst in college and from home in order to complete the practical and theory requirement of the course. A deep level of anatomy and physiology underpinning knowledge is required to develop skill, knowledge and expertise therefore self discipline is essential. Success StoryThis is a new course which city college are offering because of the success of our students taking short media make courses and progressing to work in the industry or progressing to university or work as a freelance make -up artist. Entry Requirements3 GCSE A-C including English, Maths and Science or a Level 2 beauty therapy qualification or level 2 hair and Media Make –up qualification which can be study at city college A satisfactory reference detailing, behaviour, attendance and attitude. Work experience desired. Learning StyleAll methods are selected to meet the levels and ability of each individual student. Equipment RequirementsYou will be required to salon uniform ,during all practical sessions which consists of a navy blue tunic, trousers and salon shoes. Order forms are given to you via the beauty staff. This amounts to approximately £60. You will need your full existing L2 kit. A kit consisting of makeup and hair equipment and products which could cost around £350. Each student is responsible for purchasing general stationery items including a USB memory stick and text books at approximately £30. A camera to take photos of your finished make-up looks AssessmentAssessments are on a continuous programme of study. To re enforce underpinning knowledge students are encouraged to participate in student led activities within the class, a range of projects combining all aspects of make-up and hair styling to produce a portfolio of photographic evidence compiled by you to pass the course and online multi-choices questions. You will be expected to provide models for your practical assessments and work on external clients.
