About the Course
If you would like to know how to make sugarcraft Roses, then this workshop is for you. If you have an interest in wired flowers or want to learn more, then join our friendly work shop. During the day you will learn how to make roses at various stages of bloom and foliage. You will cover a range of skills, the workshop is 100% practical, starting with a demonstration for each step.
This day is a good foundation and introduction to wired flowers. The day will be informative but fun!
Course Content
You will need to bring in 1 packet of “Squires Kitchen” white flower paste. You will learn how to make roses using a five petal cutter and make leaves. You will not be able to wire them together as they need to dry for 24 hours; however you will be told and shown pictures so you can complete at home later. You will be shown how to handle, store and use flower paste. Colouring and dusting the paste, what to do if making your own paste. What wires are required and lots more!
You will receive handouts on the skills you have learnt.
No experience is necessary. All abilities welcome.
Success Story
We have great success with our wired flower classes; this is the first time we have run a one day class.
Entry Requirements
There are no specific entry requirements for this workshop, just a love of making flowers.
Some students are already making flowers at home but want to improve their skills, while other students are complete beginners.
Learning Style
All of the learning is completed through a practical day in the college’s new kitchen facility. Workshops are instructive while in a relaxed atmosphere. The classes are fun. After a demonstration you will make your own roses step by step. Questions will be answered and lots of hints and tips will be given throughout the day.
Equipment Requirements
As with any study of a practical subject, you may want to buy some specialist equipment but for this workshop all will be provided. You can discuss with tutor on day about what is essential to making flowers.
If you do have some equipment of your own then please bring it.
Assessment
There is no assessment. No written work will be required. After the workshop all flowers are normally displayed and discussed.
Progression
Students on this course can progress to the day workshops.
Bread, Sponges and Scones, Easter cake or the 30 week cake decoration course.
Additional Information
The fees are payable in advance and in full. No admittance on the day. You may want to bring your own apron and tea towel.
You will need to bring a block of dry oasis with you, to transport your flowers home safely.
